Unphotographable
January 30, 2008
In the same vein as The Photographs Not Taken is Michael David Murphy’s site Unphotographable:
“Unphotographable is a catalog of exceptional mistakes. Photos never taken that weren’t meant to be forgotten. Opportunities missed. Simple failures. Occasions when I wished I’d taken the picture, or not forgotten the camera, or had been brave enough to click the shutter.”
I’ve emerged from the past few months of writing and research with a renewed interest in the relationship between photographs and text, particularly with regard to how we remember things, so expect more posts of this nature. If anybody knows of anything in a similar vein please let me know, but for now I am trying to do less reading and more making.
The Photographs Not Taken
January 23, 2008
Just a short post to mention that I have added a link to The Photographs Not Taken on the side of the page. The Photographs Not Taken is a collection of essays by photographers about the times they didn’t use their camera. As somebody who is largely incapable of photographing ‘in the moment’ I’m pretty interested to read what they have to say. I haven’t looked through the site in detail yet but I’m looking forward to having the chance to go through it at some point next week.
